I made Grace Lazenby through two girlfriends who had amazing things to say about her Rockin Models workout classes at Equinox.
Upon first introduction, it was clear that in addition to having an enviable body, she brings something different to her workouts than many other instructors, namely a passion for music, which truly drives her workouts.
Last week, I got the pleasure of a home visit from Grace in which she walked me through her new Rockin Models DVD which is available on Amazon as of today!!!
I need to offer the disclaimer that I am extremely picky about workout videos…I can’t deal with the uber new-agey or conversely, the drill sergeant mentality.
That said, it would be an understatement to remark that I was blown away with this workout. First off, the video has incredible features including an in-depth interview where Grace talks about how each of the three artists featured on the DVD inspire her and how each segment was choreographed around the music.
From saucy burlesque inspired barre work to the soulful and sexy sounds of Matt Goss, to strengthening yoga moves performed alongside Greg Laswell’s hauntingly addictive croons and the “float”, a move Grace designed specifically around the poignant vocals and resonant lyrics of Cary Brothers, to call Rockin Models a normal workout video would be selling it shorter than a popsicle line during a blizzard.
Thus, I have dubbed Rockin Models a “music immersion” piece and a challenging and enjoyable workout at that!
Rockin Models clocks in at an impressive 68 minutes plus cool down and is divided into segments by songs, which is perfect because it’s easy to do a few segments and resume later, if need be. There’s even a feature on the video where you can watch videos from each artist and link to the individual segment for each song.
The variables include yoga and strength building moves, very heavy inner and outer thigh work, a very unique seated oblique segment, difficult core work and a touch of burlesque, rounded out with a calming stretching set.
I did some of the workout on Thursday and was still feeling the impact 3 days later. Monday, I did the entire video and sore muscles be damned, this video is top in my workout rotation.
While as mentioned earlier, you can buy Rockin’ Models on Amazon, Grace was so kind as to offer a FREE COPY to one of my lucky readers.
You can enter the giveaway which ends on Friday at 5pm PST by:

I love Greg Laswell! We discovered his music around the time we were moving to LA. Of course a cross country move requires a mix, I made “R and Aj Take LA” and included “It’s Been a Year” my fav of his songs.

Love Laswell….first listened to him when he opened for Ingrid Michaelson in NYC a few years ago. Then saw him at the Troubadour (great local venue) a couple months ago and he’s grown even more as an artist…my favorite songs are: “Sing Theresa Says” “That It Moves” “How The Day Sounds” “Your Ghost” and “Come Clean”.

hey Bess! It’s Chika, and I’ve liked it on FB, and I’m diggin’ Matt Goss’ Evil (which may not surprise you based on my Nikka Costa/Prince likes). Will tweet in a sec.
I’m very curious about this workout video. Will it be at all the Equinox gyms?

Hi Chika! Yes Matt Goss’ music is definitely in the vein of Nikka Costa/Prince…he also reminds me of Sinatra mixed with a little Usher.
The workout is currently at Equinox gyms in LA area (West Hollywood, Santa Monica, etc) and they just did a stint in NYC gyms as well…really an awesome workout!
