Bess and Angela’s Queen of Randomness Playlist Part I

It needs to be said that I have very random taste in music.

This became blatantly apparent while on a recent trip to Michigan with my best friend.  A long and emotionally draining day called for a stiff drink and hightail it to the bar we did.

I was incredibly excited to find out that the bar we chose had a jukebox and instantly queued up a quite eclectic playlist, much to the dismay of the bartender who is probably 10 years my junior and was content to listen to Justin Bieber on repeat.

However, some a random patron came up to me to applaud the random jukebox choices and every time a new song came on, he’d ask “Was that you again?” I’d cautiously nod (for fear of getting a drink poured on my head) and he’d remark “Genius!”

Fueled by this confidence, I Tweeted about my skills at crafting the most random playlist. I was excited when Angela of A Healthy Fit responded that she loves coming up with the most random combination of songs too.

Thus began a large series of rapid fire emails in which we went back and forth and crafted what in my humble opinion is a quite good random playlist,

I have posted Part I below  just in time for all of the inevitably awkward holiday gatherings you will be hosting. Consider this your non-alcoholic icebreaker!

Look for Part II on Angela’s blog soon!

    • Beast of Burden is one of my top 3 favorite Rolling Stones songs, right up there with “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” and “Under My Thumb” but nowhere in the realm of “Angie” (which is one of my top 5 most annoying songs of all time).

  3. Love it, and OMG your list has James!! That was the soundtrack of a really important, really fun road trip to the glittering metropolis of Albany, NY when I was 21. My now-hubs and I had just gotten together a few weeks before and we had a great time closing down bars and, um, licking ice sculptures on dares at the wedding. VERY adult.

Thinking of that song makes me day! You and Angela rock.

Well, I wonder how many people identify “I Hate Myself For Loving You” with the theme of Sunday Night NFL on NBC which lifted the music and supplies different “theme lyrics” each week to fit the matchup. Wonder if Joan Jett (or whoever retains publishing rights) licensed. Probably. But if Joan Jett owns the rights and did not license I know where she can get a good lawyer for cheap (considering who she is and provided she still looks great).
